Love Yourself

it's a good thing to ask questions

DO YOU OFFER FREE CONSULTATIONS?

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?

Good one. I wish that there was one answer to this question, but there isn't. You can always choose when to stop counselling, and I see it as my role to work myself out of a job.

It has taken you some time to get where you are and we can reasonably expect that it will take more than one or two sessions to help you make meaningful change.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a remarkably effective treatment modality, and the average length of treatment is 3.75 sessions.

More commonly, brief therapies can work within 6-10 sessions. It's useful to spend time during the first session to clarify your expectations and the changes you want to see, so that we can know when you get where you're going.

Sure I do, send me an email and we can connect on the phone.  It's important to get to know one another. You'll want to feel like your counsellor is someone you want to work with.

This also gives me a chance to make sure I am the right fit for you. If you're seeking a particular therapy that is beyond my scope of practice I will connect you with a suitable counsellor.

WHAT MAKES YOU DIFFERENT THAN OTHER COUNSELLORS?

I'm glad you asked. I've wondered this myself many times. Even asking ourselves what we are looking for is a meaningful endeavor.

I know that there are not many certified Acceleration Resolution Therapists in Canada, let alone British Columbia. That will change, I hope, because this treatment is so helpful.  I am a Master Certified ART clinician.

I believe it's my presence that is different. I value transparency and laughter. Therapy is hard work, so for myself and my clients I tend to encourage exploring what makes us come alive. I am generally described as enthusiastic, kind and, you guessed it . . . heart forward. My approach has been shaped by Gabor Mate and various trauma therapists especially after completing an extensive, experiential  professional training program called Compassionate Inquiry.

HOW MUCH DOES THIS COST?

I charge a standard rate of $135.00 per individual session.

$150.00 per session for couples or family work.

Many extended health care companies offer some coverage for MSW counselling services - you can call them an inquire and I am willing to provide a written quote if this is helpful.
